This calla lily, made entirely of zip ties, is a reminder: We must turn waste into beauty! Calla lilies symbolize purity and transformation, and here, this one stands as a challenge: How can we rethink our habits and work toward a future where we prioritize sustainability?

Zip ties are made of nylon, a type of plastic that is not recyclable and naturally doesn’t break down even after centuries. Most zip ties end up in landfills—or worse, in our oceans, where they break into microplastics that harm wildlife and ecosystems.

Let this piece inspire us all to care, to change, and to act responsibly. Together, we can leave a lighter footprint on our world—one thoughtful choice at a time.

In this piece, I explore the shifting dynamics of strength, vulnerability, and connection. The composition centers on a woman holding a man in her lap—a reversal of traditional roles often depicted in art and society. She is both a source of strength and a nurturer, embodying resilience and quiet power. The man, in contrast, represents vulnerability and trust, challenging the conventional expectations of masculinity.

The dominant use of red signifies passion, emotional intensity, and the raw, unspoken energy that flows between the two figures. Their intertwined forms symbolize the balance of giving and receiving support in relationships, a universal yet deeply personal theme.

As a woman artist, I seek to challenge narratives that confine women to passive roles. This painting reflects not only my personal experiences but also a broader commentary on the evolving dynamics of gender and care. Through this work, I hope to evoke conversations about strength, identity, and the beauty of human connection.

This art piece was created live during the opening art show To Be Continued at ArtFuse. In just two hours, the artwork came to life before an audience, blending spontaneity and intentionality. Inspired by the beauty of nature, I brought fresh flowers to the event, using them as both muse and model.
The live performance added an element of connection, allowing the audience to witness the unfolding process of creation—a celebration of impermanence, growth, and the continuity of art.
